Mesh This creature follows a more difficult process from all the previous models, having a larger and slim body shape with distinctive limbs are significant design features. I started with the head and follow my sketched out profile view of the creature to grasp the exact proportions I imagined it to have. How to express the fluffiness and puff of the fur is another challenge for this model.

The arm tuffs are made from planes extruded to shape like the silhouettes from my references. To create the feel of layers, I duplicated the plane and placed it behind as the second layer to further adjust the shape different from the outer furs.

The neck is created from a blob and have these individual faces extrude strands poking out. Sized down and merged at centred to build the shape of large clumps of flowy fur.

Body block-out continued by shaping the mesh as closely to the silhouette as possible. The key during this step is the topology for the legs.

As it has a more definitive guideline taking from real anatomy, I joint vertices to build up the leg structure with bulk.

Texture Painting Before painting, I wasn’t definite as to what colour palette to give to this creature. I initially only hold a vague motif of having the body and neck tuff to contrast with each other. With this in mind, I experimented with various base colour palette additions like the images shown below. The combination mainly focussed on: white, vanilla, golden yellow, clay red, pale blue, dark blue, etc.

Throughout this process, I discovered that having the arm tuffs in a different colour from the body is a bonus variant to the design. I’ve settled with keeping the original idea of including the vanilla and yellow on the tuffs, with the main body on a reddish colour scheme. The decision regarding the base colour was made due to the existing wax rabbit's entire colour scheme being yellow, which may cause overuse in visual repetition. Therefore, I decided not to simply leave the colour for this creature just plain. Instead, drawing the patterns and gradients to decorate the coating.

Face Emotes The feathered saurus has a jaw that will be controlled with rigging, so the facial emotes sprite sheet will only include the eyes. Using similar unwrapping technique as the jade rabbit as they have a same head shape.

Rigging & Weight Painting The difficulty of weight painting increased here from the tuffs and the legs, which both need more speculation and edits. Auto weight when parenting done a decent job on the neck tuffs which just required slight adjustments on the shoulder part. Making them move alongside while posing the arms. The jaw’s gradient transition also needed detailing to avoid the connecting area with the head to deform too drastically.
