Yao went to edit the day night cycle system as I wanted to change the skybox appearance with better graphics for the clouds compared to our previous ones. I’ve followed a tutorial guide to assist with the coding sections for the skybox transitions across the in-game time.
These selected skybox asset is taken from https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/2d/textures-materials/sky/free-stylized-skybox-212257, which includes a more toon looking feel. Another concern that raised after the adjustment to the skybox is the sun and moon appeal. Since the old cycle comes as a shader graph preset, it equips the sun and moon within. This may be an additional task for us if we wanted to implement a sun and moon moving along with the skybox transitions.
I’ve searched up some possible videos that would be utilised if needing, and another video below that showcases how to seamlessly transition between day-time and night-time environments and global lighting adjustments depending on the time etc. This could be enhanced by adding another skybox that represent the sunrise and sunset. To keep a consistency in the skybox art style the skybox asset may be altered yet again, finding possible substitutes that would be suitable across all the skybox times.
