For the alpha testing on the 15th of March it will show a small section that displays the core mechanics of our game. This means we will include some story content and species scaled down to create a quick ~20 min experience.
Content
Front page: features simple sketches and the tutorials and controls.
This tutorial will show players the controls for the game. In the player feedback I can see how helpful these will be.
Veggie Felines: Newly discovered species that has developed into a small civilisation in form of a village. They take appearance from traits of vegetation; plants and vegetables are also parts they’re found to be adapted from. Seen living in tunnel houses of risen small hills, their homestead are set up with housing equipments and decorations. It’s assumed that they rely on the harvested crops in their farming state.
Engraved Tablet: An old tablet found on the ground. It seems to feature strong motifs of stars and inscribed with foreign letters. Curiously these star symbols have been seen dotted around our village and are commonly found on the tools we us. The age of this tablet seems to transcend the founding of our hometown.
Abandoned Gazebo: Unique structures that can be found anywhere in the world. No one knows how they appeared or what they are used for but this structure seems like a cozy place to relax and admire the scenery.
Feathered Saurus: Part of species that coexists as transportation methods for the nomadics which is my tribe. An agile creature that holds a strong heart in rivalry competition in its formed families. With that trait however, they also care a lot on building family relationships, which made some of its kind able to expand in coexisting with the nomads.
Baby Saurus: Smaller and tiny versions of their elders. They are the starting points in life as a Feathered Saurus. As infants they embody the characteristics and show no fear in making friendships with others around them.
Importing to Unity To make the pages appear in the sketchbook a shader was coded to make sprites appear only on 1 side as Unity displays both sides of a sprite when turned. To account for these situations I made the above images as transparent PNGs but the shader messes up the images if it is transparent. So I exported them with the page sprites and flipped the text for content on the left so that they will display properly in Unity.
A ending message for the alpha build was written to end of the demo for the playtest.
